2016–2022

Zelda was an independent webzine and online platform publishing text, visual art and genre-bending projects with theoretical and/or personal touch from 2016 until 2022. It was run together with Iida Sofia Hirvonen, Maija Ihanainen, Eveliina Lempiäinen, Elina Tervonen and Santtu Räisänen – and an overwhelming number of 127 collaborators from different fields of textual and visual arts.

Zelda’s ethos lay in feminist inclusiveness, caring about each other and the future of the planet. Our principle goal during the active years was to give space for ideas that could go unrepresented in the mainstream media’s landscape. Every issue of Zelda had a theme that lasted throughout the year. The last theme of Zelda was fantasy

I worked as Zelda’s visual designer and one of the planners from the beginning to the end. Zelda was my  playground as a freshly-graduated graphic designer, and a formative experience for my professional career in visual communications and web publishing. Through Zelda I was able to explore and learn independently a massive amount of different design crafts: 3D design, art direction, conceptualizing, graphic design, social media planning, UI/UIX and web design. The typeface used on the site through the years is Trio Grotesk by Schick–Toikka.

You can browse Zelda and all the issues until the 21th of November 2024. After that the webzine and our social media channels will be archived. The visual examples on this site are mainly from the last Fantasy issue.
